Allergy Medication
Allergies affect millions of people in America. Allergies can be seasonal (such as pollen and mold allergies) or occur year round (such as food and pet dander allergies). Whatever the cause, allergies can cause significant problems with sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, nasal congestion, skin rash, or even severe, life-threatening problems such as shock and airway obstruction.
Asthma is also a problem for many people. Both children and adults can be affected by asthma; some people develop asthma for the first time as an adult. Asthma is a disorder of the airway and leads to difficulty breathing due to inflammation in the air passages of the lungs. An acute asthma attack can be life threatening. Chronic, untreated asthma can result in permanent damage to the airway.
The asthma and allergy treatment center in Chicago at the Advanced Center for Specialty Care is a specialized center for the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. Dr. Ayesha Siddiqi is a board-certified allergist and immunologist and is the section chief of allergy at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Siddiqi is also a Chicago Asthma doctor and can provide both asthma and allergy medication to her patients. Dr Siddiqi treats patients of all ages, from newborns to adults. She is an award-winning investigator and the author of several scientific papers.
Allergy medication may be in the form of oral pills, nasal sprays, or injections. Oral pills and nasal sprays are intended to treat allergies from a variety of sources. Injections are formulated by Dr. Siddiqi to treat a subset of allergens and are designed to slowly desensitize your body to the allergen to permanently reduce or eliminate the allergy. Following a medical history, physical examination, and allergy testing, Dr. Siddiqi will determine which type of allergy medication is best for you.
There are also many types of asthma medications. A Chicago asthma doctor such as Dr. Siddiqi can determine which is best for you.
Both Allergies and asthma can greatly decrease your quality of life with potential life-long heath consequences. However, there are therapies to reduce or eliminate symptoms and prevent further health problems. Visit the Asthma and allergy treatment center in Chicago at the Advanced Center for Specialty Care to explore the many therapeutic options.
