Does a thyroid tumor affect my thyroid function?

Thyroid tumors almost never affect function. Patients with a thyroid nodule will usually have normal function. The nodule is something removed because of the risk of malignancy.

January is American Thyroid Awareness Month

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2016 there were about 62,450 new cases of thyroid cancer reported in the United States.  More than 49,000 of the new cases were women. Women are more likely to have thyroid cancer than men.
